Northern Spain feels distinct from Andalusia: greener, cooler and shaped by the Atlantic. Bilbao gives riders a practical fly-in base for the Basque coast before the roads turn inland through Cantabria and the Picos de Europa. Potes and the mountain valleys make natural overnight points, while a longer loop can continue into Asturias and return along the coast. Road-touring and adventure motorcycles both work well for the paved, technical roads and frequent elevation changes.

Independent rental is the clearest fit, with Bilbao connected to established BMW rental networks and one operator opening a local centre in 2026. Guided and self-guided products can remove the work of choosing hotels and joining the coast to the mountains. Three days can sample the Picos, but five to nine days better captures the region. Rain and reduced visibility can arrive outside the high summer window, so waterproof gear and flexible routing matter. The launch material is WEB CHECKED.
