Only what we need.

What we collect.
If you submit Local Intel or a route update, we collect the information you provide, including your name, email, rider date, location or route details and any supporting notes. Contact and expedition forms collect your name, email, message and the trip details needed to answer you.

Why we collect it.
We use this information to review contributions, prevent duplicates, contact you when clarification is permitted, moderate the rider resource, answer enquiries and maintain an audit trail of publishing decisions.

What may become public.
Practical Local Intel or route information may be edited and published after review. Private contact details, original submission history and moderation notes are not intended to be public. Public attribution is used only where appropriate and agreed.

Rider Requests.
When you post a Rider Request, the public name, trip details and message you provide may be published after review. Your email address is kept private. When another rider contacts you, their name, email and message are sent directly to you through our email provider so you can reply. ROAMERS does not publish that conversation or store it as a public thread. Requests expire automatically after the stated trip date; limited submission and moderation records may be retained for site safety and operational records.

Email updates.
If you explicitly subscribe, our email delivery provider stores your email to send occasional ROAMERS updates. This is separate from other site forms, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Website analytics.
ROAMERS uses Google Analytics to understand broad website use, such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser information, and how visitors move through the site. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers. We use this information to improve the Rider Guide, not to create paid rankings or sell personal information. You can limit analytics cookies through your browser settings or use Google’s Analytics opt-out tools.

Ride and fuel route planning.
In ROAMERS Ride, location text is sent to Google as you type so exact place suggestions can be returned. If you use route weather, Rider Intel or the automatic fuel-stop planner, the selected start, route points, stops and destination are sent to Google Maps so a road route and relevant results can be returned. Route coordinates are then sent to Open-Meteo to retrieve weather along the ride. ROAMERS does not store those place, route or weather searches. Google and Open-Meteo handle the requests under their own privacy terms.

Service providers.
ROAMERS uses website hosting and database services to run the site and an email delivery service to send notifications and subscriptions. Information is shared with those services only as needed to operate these functions. External maps, social sites and operator links are governed by their own privacy practices when you visit them.

Retention.
We retain contribution and moderation records while they are reasonably needed to operate and protect the rider resource. Contact and enquiry information is kept only for legitimate operational follow-up and record keeping. We do not collect extra personal information simply because the technology permits it.

We do not sell personal information. If published Local Intel came from your submission, your email address is not published.

Planning saved on your device.
Some PLAN tools save progress locally in your browser. This is not a ROAMERS account and is not sent to us unless you separately submit a form or email.

Correction or removal requests.
To ask what personal information you submitted, correct it or request removal where appropriate, email roamersriderguides@gmail.com. Include enough detail for us to identify the relevant submission without sending unnecessary sensitive information.
